CBI's Annual Family Mitzvah Day is Sunday, March 3, 2019

Join us at 8:30 am for Shacharit service followed by a Continental Breakfast & Orientation

 

By devoting just a few hours of your Sunday, you will be helping both our community’s agencies and many individuals who rely on the support of others. We invite you to sign up for one of the projects we have listed below and to consider bringing an item from our wish list with you when you join us "Side by Side at CBI." -  Sarah Feld and Jackie Wertel - Co-Chairs, Mitzvah Day

Schedule:
8:30 am      Shacharit Service (Morning Minyan)     
9:00 am:     Registration Begins 
9:15 am:     Continental Breakfast & Orientation  
10:00 am:   Mitzvah Day Projects Begin

CBI Mitzvah Day Wish List:
The Mitzvah Day Committee will be collecting for the following agencies:

Gulf Coast Jewish Family & Community Services: Non-perishable food items as well as grocery gift cards & toiletries.
Clothes for Kids, Inc.: New underwear, socks, and clothing. 
John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital: New toys

Projects:

Beach Clean-Up with Tikkun haYam (Scubi Jew): Tikkun HaYam, or Repair the Sea, teaches  about the Jewish connection to the marine environment and provides opportunities to participate in hands on marine conservation initiatives. Project Captain: Eric Pastman

Pack a Sack for Holocaust Survivors: Fulfill the mitzvah of Maot Hittim (wheat money) and help us pack Passover food packages for local Holocaust Survivors. Project Captain: Louisa Benjamin

Art Project With Menorah Manor:   Coloring with Menorah Manor residents. Project Captain: Reisha Freedman

Mitzvah Garden: CBI has created a hydroponic garden with the goal of providing healthy produce to our community. Volunteers will learn how to help tend the garden. Project Captain: Stephanie Adelson
Crochet or Knit an Afghan that is 35-40 inches wide by 40-50 inches long.  Please bring your knitting or crochet needles and yarn to create an afghan for a camper attending Camp Boggy Creek (a free, safe and medically-sound camp environment that enriches the lives of children with serious illnesses and their families.) Experienced needle crafters can help guide beginners.  Limited supplies will be available at CBI. Project Captain: Pam Himmel

I understand that I am responsible for my behavior and will only perform volunteer work that I feel comfortable doing. I hereby release and agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless from any and all damages (including exposure to illness and disease), injuries, claims, and causes of action which may accrue to be asserted by me or any minor child of mine arising (directly or indirectly) out of my child’s participation in Mitzvah Day.
