Pauline Rivkind Talmud Torah | Congregation B'nai Israel
PRTT 2024-2025 academic year
Welcome and Welcome Back, Everyone!
Beginnings are so exciting! We are looking forward to August and to the energy that our students and families breathe into all the plans we've made for the year ahead. We can't wait to get together again! There is nothing more wonderful than seeing new and familiar relationships between students and between parents blossom.
A new year brings a new Shehecheyanu Moment!
Whether it's a familiar relationship or a new one it is always something to celebrate! We can always find something for which we are grateful: May God continue to grant us life and sustain us through these times as we create new connections together: students, parents, and teachers. As we build community, we will stretch the boundaries of our Jewish world at CBI, and nothing is more important here than the home we build together. One thing has not changed: the most important thing is to take care of each other and to be together so that we can continue growing Jewishly.
What has changed? Our age cohort names have been updated! Here they are:
Gan Yom Rishon (GYR): our very successful Sunday morning preschool for ages 2 - 4
Ramah Aleph: Kindergarten and First Grade
Ramah Bet: Second and Third Grades
Ramah Gimel: Fourth and Fifth Grades
Ramah Heh: Middle School
Gesher: Eighth Grade
Hebrew High: Ninth to Twelfth Grades
Please head over to PRTT on Facebook to stay up to speed with what we are doing.
We’re ready for some Jewish community! We've got this!
PRTT: Makom Sheli!
PRTT: The Place for Me!
Warm Regards,
Maureen Sechan
Please Note: CBI uses an Annual Financial Commitment model rather than a yearly synagogue dues model. Religious School tuition for members requires just the Educational Programming and Supply Fee, thanks to a generous subsidy from CBI. Families can register for Religious School as non members, too. Please contact our administrative office if you'd like to learn more details about our AFC model.

Pauline Rivkind Talmud Torah Religious School
Congregation B’nai Israel welcomes you to our Pauline Rivkind Talmud Torah Religious School! We are excited to partner with you to ensure that your child continues to build a rich foundation of Jewish knowledge in our warm and nurturing environment.
We recognize that children have differing learning styles. At CBI, we are committed to helping every student reach their full potential by providing experiences and instruction sensitive to the unique motivation and spark that exists in every child. Classroom experiences rely on art, movement, journaling, and multi-media techniques to engage our learners.
We are pleased to announce that we are partnering with The Institute for Southern Jewish Life and will now use their spiraled curriculum. Throughout our curriculum of Hebrew, Bible, History, and Holidays we continually seek to reinforce our special relationship to our faith and to each other by identifying the common thread of Torah and ethics. We place special emphasis on Tefillah (Prayer) and Tzedakah (Righteousness) to further enhance that goal.
We are very excited to have you join our community, and we take our mission seriously: from generation to generation, CBI leaves no-one behind! We welcome family participation in our school, and we look forward to getting to know you!
Email our Director of Lifelong Learning, Maureen Sechan, for information on how to register your child or call 727.381.4900 ext 1011.

Talmud Unveiled: A Journey through Masechet Berachot This Fall we will be starting a new Talmud class covering Berachot (blessings) the first Tractate of the Talmud. Berachot covers a wide range of topics, including: the derivation of many of our prayers and blessings, rules relating to our prayers and the methodology of praying. The Talmud has been studied continuously for over 1500 years and today is explored daily by hundreds of thousands of Jews. The classes will be conducted in English, with no prior experience with the Talmud or knowledge of Hebrew or Aramaic necessary. Class resources will be provided. Questions and class participation are encouraged and new participants are welcome! The class will be conducted by Steve Wein, who has taught Talmud to all ages and backgrounds over the years. -

Become a mini-Middle East expert in just 20 weeks, as we study the roots of the conflict between Jews and Arabs over the modern State of Israel. Analyzing newspaper articles, speeches, poems, photographs, and maps, we will re-trace history on a path from 1948-today, examining each war and attempt at peace. The material is designed to encourage discussion and debate about religion, culture, politics, economics, identity, and survival, challenging learners to appreciate the basis of the claims made by all sides. Together, we’ll leap into these complex topics, probing why a lasting peace between Israel and the Arab world has been so elusive and what developments might be next. -
